Dear Parents and Caregivers
Information evening - this coming Monday - starting at 7pm in the hall. Please come along and join us. This is an opportunity for you to hear from all of the groups in the school - Board, PTA and Trust - all made up of parents who are helping to make the school the best it can be.
Newsletter - Last week we sent our first newsletter out through our database programme - ‘etap’, but in some cases it took over 4 hours for the newsletter get home. We will persevere with the etap channel and hope that the etap support team can help us to get it to send more quickly. The newsletter is also available each Wednesday on the school website and hard copies can be collected from the School Office.
Mandarin Language Assistant - Our ‘MLA’ started yesterday. Her name is Qian Liu, and is a very positive young lady, whom the children will enjoy working with. She has completed her teaching degree back home, is spending this year supporting the learning of Mandarin at our School, Chelsea, and Birkdale Intermediate, and will return home at the end of the year to complete her teacher training. We should have an MLA each year for the next three years.
Can you help?

Hats- children must have a wide brimmed hat at school. Children without hats will be required to sit in a shady area.
School starts at 8.50. Please try to have your child here on time so that the roll can be marked and learnng time can begin promptly.
Car park -Please do not drop off children in the staff car park, there is a designated drop off zone on the street. Children can then walk safely on the footpath into the school through the archway, rather than the more dangerous route through the carpark.

Miniball registrations have now closed, basketball registrations are due by the end of this week. There are still some outstanding uniforms from last year. Please return as soon as possible.
At Birkenhead Primary we have a School Counsellor. Her name is Liz Summerville and she is here every Thursday. She has been at the school since 2012. Year five and six children can access her directly through their teacher or the office. Year four and younger must be referred by a parent. If children have self-referred and their problems are significant then parents will be contacted. Liz is there to support the children and their families and can be contacted on 027 488 9236 or email@example.com.
This week’s writing comes from one of our newest students in Room 5.I am in a hulk mask. Daniel Warner
