Tena koutou katoa. Kei te pehea koutou?

Fantastic children! I have visited a number of Panuku rooms this week and have seen children delivering some amazing speeches, writing some fantastic pieces, working on their gadgets,Pikiake children working with Constable Harwood on their road safety awareness. It is always delightful to see a group of children working with their teacher, working out Maths problems, discussing a text …….. Well done children, and thanks to all our fantastic staff for the commitment they show for the children’s learning. We have a busy term ahead of us. We had a Matariki wrap up meeting yesterday. Feedback from parents, all very positive and constructive, was recorded, and a decision on annual or biennial will be made in Term Four.

PhotoLife Studios:  All class, sibling and individual photos have been uploaded and are now ready to view online.  Online ‘shoot key slips’ will be sent home with your child(ren) as soon as we have received them from Photolife.  This provides information about how to order and pay for your photographs. PhotoLife will provide FREE delivery for all photos that are ordered and paid for by SUNDAY 20 AUGUST 2017.  If you do not wish to use the online system, please collect an order envelope from the office. PLEASE NOTE:  All payments must be made to PhotoLife, NOT the School.

Book Week is Next week,  Monday, July 31 – Friday, August 4.

The theme for this year is ‘Myths and Legends from Around the World’.

We hope parents or grandparents, or anyone from the many cultures we have at Birkenhead Primary, will come and share their own special traditional Myth or Legend with their child’s class. Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like to do this. This could also lead to ideas for the Friday morning dress up parade. We hope to see dragons, taniwha, Roman heroes, Greek warriors, Irish giants, and many other mythical characters or creatures in our parade.  The parade leaves school at 9.15. School Assembly will follow the parade at approximately 10am.

The Book Fair is set up in our Library with hundreds of beautiful books for you to purchase. Classes are looking through the display today and it will be open for parents to view each day next week from 8.15 to 8.50 and 2.45 to 3.30. You will be able to buy books for home, and/or a book to donate to school, each day before and after school.  This is a major fundraiser for our Library and we get a percentage of sales, so we really appreciate your generosity.
