School Disco tomorrow night! I am sure that the children will be looking forward to this, and I am sure that they will look fantastic in their beach gear. Enjoy the night children, and don’t forget to say ‘Thanks’ to the PTA parents and teachers running the Disco. Our IT engineer is here while I am writing this, setting up the gadgets the PTA has funded for the children - $25,000 worth, and Logan is setting up the storage container the PTA has funded to allow the Resource Room to be used as a classroom later in Term Three - $13,000 worth. Well done.
Mrs Lorraine Brockbank has started with us today - spending the day meeting the children, and talking to Miss Little about their learning. Miss Chikera Atkins has also visited today, meeting Room 9 children and Miss Houston. She starts after the holiday. Welcome, Lorraine, and welcome, Chikera, and thank you to Miss Little for continuing the children’s learning through term two.
Parking in the Shopping Centre carpark - Wilson Parking is now managing this. PLEASE make sure that you know the Terms and Conditions of parking there. Two parents, that we know of, have been ticketed so far for parking there and walking their children into or out of school. They have both been excused, but it is still a hassle having to write in. We will endeavour to find a way round this for our school parents. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer parking within the school for parents as this is needed for our growing staff and for people visiting the school for meetings and work within the school.
Support for the work of Te Puea Marae
A parent has suggested that we gather some food boxes for the marae. This is a lovely idea, and would help make a difference for those families in difficulty. The marae would definitely like anything from this list: vegetables, 4 litre margarine, baking, Ice cream, snack food items, tinned fruit, tinned meats and tinnedbfish, lunchboxes, schoolbags, thermal travel cups (hot soup for kids’ lunches), Sistema type containers large size, deodorants. They have also asked for meat, fish, chicken. This is too difficult for us to manage, but you might possibly have a means of getting these to the marae directly. Could you possibly add something in to your next supermarket shop, and send it along any day next week. We will have boxes available in the Office foyer.
We use an on-line booking system so that you can select your Triangle times electronically. To do this:
Go to: www.schoolinterviews.co.nz .
Enter our school code uffd8.
Use the drop down boxes to select the teacher(s) and time that suits you.
Bookings are open until Friday 1 July 2016. Please return the supervision request slips if your child will be staying at school.
Please note that we will have Room 13 triangles next term, once Mrs Brockbank has settled in with the children.

Last Spell-athon reminder: Huge thanks to those who have donated. The syndicate leaders have already placed their orders for new literacy resources based on the takings so far. But we have quite a way to go in order to give them their wish list. Remember there are great prizes to be won.
A PTA person will be in the office foyer each morning until Tuesday the 28th to collect sponsorship sheets and funds. The first ten in tomorrow will be given a voucher for an ice-block at the disco. We will also be collecting on Thursday night. Spell-athon packs can be downloaded from the BPS Facebook page if needed. Alternatively, you can transfer money into the PTA bank account 06-0115-0253323-00 reference spell-athon and your surname. Please then email your child's name, room number, whanau group and the amount to firstname.lastname@example.org . No amount is too big or too small. It all helps.

At The Marae
I was so nervous. Mrs Arrowsmith called the karanga. We walked slowly and the girls walked in front. The boys walked behind because this is the tradition. We learned how to sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" in Maori. By Lachlan MacKenzie, Room 11
The kumara was very yummy. I had so much. Derrick didn't have much. I loved the toast and inside was jam. I wanted more but there wasn't any more. By Phillip Cox, Room 11
Zoom! went the bus roaring down the road. "Wheee!" I shouted in excitement. "We are almost there Grace!" I couldn't wait for the delicious food they were going to give us. I wondered what we were going to do. "Look, there are people, Grace!" Their singing was wonderful. I wished I could do that too. By Abby Allan
