Twice upon a Time

Congratulations to the Panuku children for a successful show.  It is a great display of their many talents from scriptwriting, acting, singing, dancing, prop making, stage management to programme and poster design.  The children did these all themselves! Thank you Ms Robinson for your leadership, and thank you Mrs Lamason, Ms Weir and Mrs Gerin for your work.  If you haven’t seen the show yet, tonight is your last chance to see this wonderful, original piece of work!  See below for DVD orders.

Te Reo Phrase(s) of the Week

As suggested at the Maori Consultation Evening earlier this term, we are including a te reo phrase or two in the newsletter from now on.  These are chosen from a list of words/phrases we want all our teachers and children to know by the end of this year.  The phrases for this week are:

Tēnā koe - Hello (to one person)

Tēnā kōrua - Hello (to two people)

Tēnā koutou - Hello (to more than two people)

Our tamariki can use these (formal) greetings when asked to by the teachers, and are now learning to say them spontaneously outside the classroom- to their friends or other adults. How about practising them as a whānau (family) at home!

Teachers Paid Union Meeting

Thank you to parents and caregivers who collected their children from school early last Friday.  This enabled most of our staff to attend this important meeting.

Daffodil Day- A total of $494 was raised by BPS for the Cancer Society on Daffodil Day. Thank you all so much for your generosity.

Room 4 had a Pyjama Day today. All the people in Room 4, the children and the teacher, came dressed in their PJs and brought along a soft toy, a pillow pet and/or a blanket. Among other exciting activities, the children wrote  a story, this  time imagining that  they were day dreaming. This  is what two students wrote:

Day dreaming

The news said it was raining. Then I looked outside. It was raining with ice creams! I ran out of the door, opened my mouth and closed my eyes.

 “Wow, Dunkin, you are alive.”

“Yes, Kyle, I am alive. “

“But how?”

“In your dreams. I am disappearing now because you are waking up.”

Lucky Dunkin is my soft toy.
