The Birkenhead Primary School PTA
Our PTA is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation that works collaboratively with the school's Board of Trustees, Principal and management staff to support the great work that goes on, and to strive for new successes.
Our Mission
To lead approved fundraising and social activities that unite the School community in raising funds for additional facilities and resources for Birkenhead Primary School.
We value every contribution made by families to PTA fundraising activities throughout each year.
We always welcome new members of the PTA Committee or you can simply become a Friend of the PTA, helping out on specific events and activities.
Please email our Secretary for more information, or you are welcome to attend a PTA meeting.
Our meetings are routinely the second Tuesday of each month during term time, 07:30 pm in the staff room.
- To support the annual objectives and priorities decided by the School’s management and Board of Trustees (Board), after due consultation with staff and the PTA itself.
- To encourage the wider School community’s involvement in all activities aimed at achieving those objectives.
- To liaise effectively with management, staff, and Board.
- To reinforce the child – family – School links which are an important part of the School community.

Funding
We manage funding in three categories:
General Fund
A general fund for ad-hoc funding requests throughout year. We aim to have these requests in at the beginning of each year (insofar as this is practical to do). The balance from this is transferred to our long term fund at the end of year.
Long Term Fund
Our contribution to 'big ticket' items that require saving for over time. The School Board advises on big ticket priorities, so we can have a 'thermometer' accrual. The long term fund also includes the 5%/$2,500 contribution to the BPS Learning Trust
Targeted Funding
Allocated funding from a particular event. Where an event has targeted funding: 30% will go to the long term fund, 70% to the target. The school will receive the targeted funding as a lump sum and will subsequently report on expenditure.
